“The Dinagyang Festival is Iloilo City’s number one tourist attraction, fascinating tourists from all over the world through its renowned folk choreography street dancing competition. (Its) success is made possible through the commendable Public-Private Partnership (PPP) among the Iloilo City local government, led by Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, the Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. and other private sector participants,” the resolution reads.

It also stated that “the victory of Tribu Pan-ay echoes the resounding success of Iloilo City’s Dinagyang Festival.”

The resolution was endorsed by Iloilo City Lone District Rep. Jerry P. Treñas.

Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog thanked Congress for the acclaim given to the city and Dinagyang.

He takes pride in Dinagyang’s feat as this again cements the city’s status as home of the country’s Best Tourism Event, duly recognized by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP).

Aliwan Fiesta, sponsored by Manila Broadcasting Corp. (MBC), is an annual national competition showcasing various major festivals from all over the country.

This year’s Dinagyang Festival winner Tribu Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School represented the city and defeated 18 other festival champions from different regions.

Dinagyang has won the Aliwan festival competition for the second straight year.

The Aliwan Fiesta Street Dancing Competition was held at Quirino Grandstand and Aliw Theater on April 14 to 16.
