Jan 29, 2012 by

Dubbed as the grandest Chinese New Year celebration outside Binondo in Manila, Iloilo city has once again pulled off another successful and well-attended celebration. Though a few days late from the actual Lunar new year, the said celebration had been moved back a bit to give way to the recently concluded Dinagyang festival. Nevertheless, Ilonggos and Chinese-Pinoys alike returned to the streets and relished yet another festive gathering.

The grand cultural parade kicked off at Bonifacio Drive. Students and faculty members of the different Chinese schools in the city marched the streets of Iznart, JM Basa, and Aldeguer. There was also a cultural show held at the Friendship Arch of Chinatown, along the strip of the the annual food festival venue. A grandiose fireworks then capped the night with a big bang.

Here are some of the moments captured through the lenses and artistry of Dr. Lucille Detoyato. Thanks for sharing the photos with MyIloilo.net.
