Iloilo Teachers Go Google

Mar 7, 2014 by

Being appointed as the Chapter Leader of Google Educators Group (GEG) Iloilo, I carry with me an excitement comparable to an 8-year old who has been given the golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Not that I am automatically entitled to going on a Google Hub immersion, but let’s just put it this way: I’m one step closer to that.

Kidding aside, this responsibility as the GEG Iloilo Leader allows me to share the sense of empowerment to my fellow teachers especially in using technology to maximize our teaching/learning potentials.

GEGs are independently run communities of educators who inspire and empower each other to meet the needs of students through technology both in the classroom and beyond. Via face to face meetups and online activities, GEGs provide a way for primary or secondary school educators who are passionate about education and technology to meet like minded people and share, learn, and collaborate together with them.

For the Iloilo Chapter, we are working towards an exciting synergy of teachers that have the passion and vision to maximize their teaching and learning endeavors. Consequently, we have formally launched the GEG Iloilo Chapter last February 18th at Al Dente Ristorante with 25 teachers in attendance. The primary goal of the launch is to touch base with just a few teachers in Iloilo representing the different schools. Ultimately, GEG envisions itself to cover as much teacher population in Iloilo as possible through the different activities organized by this community chapter.
If you are a teacher in Iloilo, you are most welcome to be with us in Google Educators Group Iloilo. One way to start this wonderful collaboration is to add us up in your Google+ circles. You can find our GEG Google+ account by clicking here. You will also find updates and other information you might need for the exciting events that we are brewing for Iloilo.
