And Here I Am.

Hello dear readers. It’s been a while since I last sat down and wrote a legit blog that you would probably find useful or entertaining. I have been extremely busy working on the Arts Month festival in the university (oh, did I tell you I was given a post to head the culture and arts program of the university? Not that it has made me special, but I thought it’s worth mentioning just for the heck of it) as well as two major productions for the performing arts groups that I’m handling. So now that I’m pretty de-loaded, I am taking this time to sit down, compose my thoughts and write. And I have never felt like this for quite some time. Writing suddenly feels like a gargantuan challenge. But indulge me as I gather my wits and be back on track.

Last March 6 & 7, UPV Choristers staged WICKED: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz. It was an adaptation of the musical by Stephen Schwartz by Kevin Piamonte. I did the choreography. We didn’t expect the show to be such a hit, but I guess when great talent is combined with a great material and the passion and commitment to do something as beautiful as WICKED, I guess things do fall into place. We filled the hall with theater-goers who left with delighted hearts and a thirst for more. For sure we will be coming back with more exciting shows.

A week after WICKED is another tour-de-force staging of UPV Hublag Dance Company (now the official University Performing Group of UP Visayas) entitled #HUGOT. The dance concert is a themed contemporary dance performance by the company. UPV Hublag Dance Company has earned its reputation of staging quality productions for more than 6 years now and has since pulled in a strong following whenever the company stages its annual productions. Congratulations Hublag!
